Puskas Academy Dormitory baroque basement remodeling, Felcsut

We have created communal spaces in the basement of the baroque-style building. It was prohibited to alter the walls, so we had to find another way to heat and light the spaces. This ended up being the 30 centimeters high interior spine on which we housed the mechanical elements and light fixtures that also provided visual separation. Onto this structure we built the benches and armoires. The form of the chairs and tables evoke the spirit of the country baroque style through modern interpretation. The Hungarian country baroque style simplifies baroque while recreating it according to its on idealized image of beauty.
