Puskas Academy Dormitory, Restoration of baroque-style Chapel, Felcsút

Architect: Imre Makovecz

We had to create coherent spaces among the baroque-style basement and Chapel and the ImreMakovecz designed organic extension of the mansion. The Hungarian folk-art, so called “peasant-baroque” inspired simple, modern formsbridged the baroque style and surrealistic organic design. The essence of the “peasant-baroque” style is expressing folk-art culture through stripping baroque to its core, then rebuilding its significant forms throughthe ideal of beauty of peasantry. These folkloric transformed motifs appear in all spaces of the building and create a continuous flow through the application of materials and color schemes.
